PERSONAL INJURY | NURSING HOME ABUSE | BEDSORES | PRESSURE SORES | DECUBITUS ULCERS | NECROSIS | FATAL ACCIDENTS
While some people are more susceptible to bed or pressure sores (also known as decubitus ulcers) than others, nursing homes have a duty to take reasonable steps to minimize the risk of bedsores. Factors such as nutrition and hydration, as well as regular bathing, can reduce that risk. The nursing home can also reposition bedridden patients on a regular basis. If your loved one is in a nursing home or other long-term care facility, and has developed bedsores because of caregivers’ negligence or carelessness, you want an experienced personal injury lawyer to help them get full and fair compensation for their losses.
At Blackman Legal Group, we have concentrated our practice on personal injury cases since 1976. We are well versed in all aspects of personal injury law and procedure, and can help you understand all of your options, as well as your likelihood of success. Because of our commitment to thorough preparation, we frequently settle claims at or above insurance policy limits, and have obtained numerous verdicts or settlements that exceed $1 million for clients.
We offer a free consultation to people who have been abused, such as having developed bedsores in a nursing home. To schedule a meeting, contact Blackman Legal Group by e-mail or call our office at 415-585-5200 (toll-free at 866-692-8126).
HELPING VICTIMS OF BEDSORES IN NURSING HOMES
A bedsore, also known as a decubitus ulcer, is a lesion on the skin that typically results from the pressure against bones caused by constantly lying in the same position. The most common location for bedsores is the tailbone. Bedsores can be minor, showing up as a redness on the skin, but they can also be very serious, manifesting initially as blisters or abrasions, but leading to full skin loss or necrosis of underlying tissue.
The more serious consequences of a bedsore are enhanced by immobility (due to fracture, illness or incapacity), poor nutrition or hydration, vascular (vein) diseases, and diabetes.
We work closely with bedsore victims and their families, seeking not only damages for any injuries suffered, but also remedies that will minimize the risk, including special mattresses, beds, heel protectors and boots.
We handle all personal injury claims, including cases involving bed or pressure sores, or decubitus ulcers, on a contingent fee basis. Unless we recover compensation for your losses, we will not charge you any attorney fees.
